How to download a Spotify album cover
- Copy the link. In the Spotify app, tap the three dots next to an album, song or playlist, then Share and Copy link. On a computer, right-click it and choose Share, then Copy link.
- Paste it above. The cover opens at full size, with its size in pixels and its file size.
- Choose Save cover. The JPEG is named after the album or song and its artist, or after the playlist.
Larger than the cover Spotify shows
Spotify’s pages list a cover at 640 pixels at most. Its image servers keep a larger copy, and that is the one spottomp3 fetches. The file is the JPEG exactly as Spotify stores it: not resized, cropped or re-compressed.

Not every cover is square. One song we tested has a cover of 1500 × 1331 pixels, and it saves that way, not cropped to a square.

Profile pictures and Canvas videos, the short loops behind some songs in the Spotify app, are not supported.
Using a cover
Album covers are the artists’ and labels’ artwork. Keep a cover for your own use, such as your music library, a phone wallpaper or a reference; publishing or selling it needs the rights holder’s permission.

What size is the cover?
The largest Spotify keeps: 1500 or 2000 pixels wide for the albums and songs we tested, 1280 for Spotify’s own playlists. The page shows the exact size before you save.
Why is my cover smaller than that?
Some covers exist only at a smaller size; Spotify’s chart playlists, for example, have a 300-pixel picture. spottomp3 saves the largest one there is and never enlarges it.
What file format is it?
JPEG, exactly as Spotify stores it.
Can I download an artist photo or a profile picture?
No. spottomp3 reads albums, songs and playlists. For an artist, open one of their albums and paste that link.
Can I download a Canvas video?
No. Canvas videos, the short loops some songs show in the Spotify app, are not supported.
